Dear Members

We have been advised by our landlords that all items will be removed from the premises within 1 week. We have asked the landlords to arrange for a specific day when the premises will be open in order for all third party items to be retrieved but this has yet to be confirmed.

At this stage if you wish to retrieve your items from the Club the landlords have stated the following

‘any persons who may wish to collect items must contact Chris Byrant at HNG with full name, contact number at home and mobile, along with proof of ID and evidence that they own the items, ie: a locker key or the code to the locker’

Dear Members

Apologies for the delay in providing you with and update regarding the on-going situation at Club Kensington. For the last 9 days our solicitors have been in negotiations with the landlords on a number of on-going issues.
These are namely attempting to re-open Club Kensington to continue trading and also to gain access to the club for members to retrieve goods and valuables from the premises.

As of today the situation is this.

Our landlords as you know changed the locks to the club on the morning of Tuesday 29th October. There have been on-going negotiations regarding our lease and a large scale planning application that the landlords have recently been granted consent for which would have affected Club Kensington’s long term future. We were at this stage attempting to come to a resolution with them in order to discuss how Club Kensington could continue to operate over the coming years.
As there are on-going legal issues there is only so much we can comment on the background details but it is a fact that whilst Club Kensington was attempting to discuss these issues with our landlords that we found ourselves in a position where our lease was terminated.

As such the club is unlikely to reopen any time soon.

I know many of you have equipment and personal belongings in the gym. Again we have been in touch with the landlords and our solicitors to attempt to gain access for you to retrieve your belongings.

As soon as I know what steps are required to obtain any third party goods back from our solicitors and when these can be obtained I will let you know.

I am sure that there are many rumours flying around regarding what has happened but I hope that you will all realise that the situation that has arisen was completely unexpected and out of our hands.

I know many of you have paid membership fees in advance and I will be advising all members shortly what steps can be taken in order to obtain refunds. However please appreciate that there are certain legal steps which we must observe and as such the speed with which this can be undertaken is largely out of my hands.

I will be fighting this to the best of my ability in order to make sure that I can get the best outcome for all of you in what is a deeply distressing situation.

Dear Members,

As you may be aware Club Kensington was closed yesterday due to unforeseen circumstances. This was as a result of on-going situation regarding the premises and discussions with our landlords.

You should be aware that at no time was it communicated to us or made apparent that the action to close the club would be taken on the part of the landlords.

Since yesterday we have been in lengthy discussions with both our landlords in order to re-open Club Kensington in order to continue to provide our loyal members with a place to train that has been a fixture on the high street for over 50 years.

Obviously we are extremely sorry that the club has been closed since yesterday but please be assured that we are doing all we can to commence trading as soon as practicable.

We should hopefully be in a position to let you know when Club Kensington will reopen by Thursday 12 noon, if not before.
